Private Cinema  ·  Gauteng

Heldefontein

Installation

A dedicated private cinema built on a simple principle — you should see the image and hear the room, and nothing else. Every amplifier, source and run of cabling lives in an equipment rack outside the space, leaving a 135-inch acoustically transparent screen and a true immersive sound field as the only things in the room.

The Approach

Engineered around the screen, not around the speakers.

Three Paradigm CI Pro P1 reference channels sit directly behind the screen, firing through its acoustically transparent surface so dialogue and score arrive from the picture itself rather than from beside it. In-wall surrounds and a pair of in-ceiling height channels complete a Dolby Atmos layout, with two twelve-inch Defiance subwoofers carrying the low end evenly across the seating.

A 5,000-lumen Optoma laser projector throws a bright, stable 4K image that holds up under the warm, low-level lighting the room is designed around. Everything resolves to a single Control4 interface — one press dims the lights, closes out the room and starts the film. Acoustic treatment and joinery are executed by Modco; IHO supplies and installs the audio-visual system, the control layer and the rack that keeps it all out of sight.
